Military FAQs

o Invaders: Appear in your realm, not directly next to your towns. They stop you from using the resources in an area around them and can steal your banked resources if you don’t repel them.

o Raiders: Attack your towns and are capable of destroying your town buildings – walls will however slow them down. They appear next to your town buildings and will also steal banked resources if you don’t repel them within the allotted time.

o Neither raiders OR invaders will ever steal your gold.

o There is a difference between raiders and invaders, make sure you are defeating raiders and not invaders:

- Invaders: Appear in your realm, not directly next to your towns. They stop you from using the resources in an area around them and can steal your banked resources if you don’t repel them.

- Raiders: Attack your towns and are capable of destroying your town buildings. They appear next to your town buildings and will also steal banked resources if you don’t repel them within the allotted time.

o Check that you are fighting them at the minimum difficulty as required for this quest.

o The lower the number the higher the rank, e.g. 1 is the highest rank, 20 is the lowest.

o Every 60 days a new Archive Entry is created. If your rank is higher than rank 17 it is reset back to 17 at the end of this 60 day period. The most successful duellists are entered into the Archive which pays tribute to the top 10 since the entry began.

It depends on the unit, you may only have 1 of certain unit types. If you disband one of these units then you will be able to buy/craft another. Other units costing gold will need to be purchased multiple times in order to have more than 1 within your army.

Units you may only have 1 of:

- All Knight units (including the Knights Cavalry) - (The Longsword Knight does not require gold, only building the Knight's Manor is required to get this unit)

- Crossbowmen

- Composite bow archers

- Medium cavalry (does not require gold to be bought, only building the stable is required to get this unit)

The Slot located at the middle back of the Army is exclusive to Artillery unit which can only be recruited through a Workshop. The 2 slots on either side of the back row however, can be used by both Artillery and Soldiers.

- Orders and unit skills use a flag system to denote which one is active.

- Only one flag can be active at a time

- Small flag = unit skill (one exception is when you use the fear order, the small flag shows who causes fear and the big flag shows who is has the debuff fear)

- Large flag = orders

- A flag provides a specific bonus (positive or negative) while the flag hovers over the unit

- If a flag is gone, meaning it is not active anymore, the effect disappears as well

This is simply having an understanding of how we use the rock-paper-scissors mechanic. The obvious:

- Spears beat Cavalry

- Cavalry beats swords

- Swords beat spear

But then we have also added the armour as a new factor where some weapons are more effective depending on the armour of the unit attacked.

Also, unit stats should be taken into account as a very well trained spearmen unit might defeat a less well trained swordsmen unit.

And finally, each unit has a number of men in its ranks; this will also affect the outcome of a battle. The more men remaining alive in a unit the more chance they have to land a killing blow.

The 3 artilleries have also an impact in battles and depend on how you use them:

- Trebuchet is very slow but has a big Area of Effect and kills everything it falls on – Beware of friendly fire

- Mangonel is faster with a big area of Effect as well but only has a chance of burning units (the lighter the armour the more chances are men will burn) – Beware of friendly fire

- Ballistas are the fastest and have the smallest and least chance of killing enemies. However this is compensated by the fact that it doesn’t friendly fire.

Skills are one of the most important decisions you will have to take outside of battles that will directly affect your battles.

They are enhancements you can use.

Each unit can use their skill once per battle.

These are supposed to complement your orders by either reinforcing your orders or offering more variety to your strategy.

Each unit has the choice between 2 different skills:

1) Axeman

- [BATTLE CRY] – Chance to fear your opponent engaged in melee

- [INVICTUS] – Invulnerability to all melee and ranged damage

2) Composite Bow Archers

- [FEATHER BROTHERHOOD] – Slightly replenishes all archery units

- [FLURRY] – Shoots a second volley of arrows immediately

Disbanding a unit means you are destroying it. This means you won’t be able to recover it and you have basically lost all items and experience it had. If it cost you gold to buy it you will need to spend that gold again.

BEFORE DISBANDING A UNIT PLEASE READ THE WARNING MESSAGE STATING THIS UNIT WILL BE DESTROYED AND ALL EXPERIENCE AND ITEMS WILL BE LOST:

Detached means your unit cannot be used in combat as he doesn’t have a place to stay/rest/train. To remedy to this issue you will just need to rebuild the building that was made to get the unit in the first place. This unit is not lost but cannot participate in combat until it has a new place to stay.

Destroying a military building, unless you haven’t chosen a unit for this building will always result in a unit being detached.

A unit that has been disbanded is permanently destroyed and removed from the game with no options to get it back.

This should only be used for newly created units that have been bought by mistake.

PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT ALL UNITS COSTING GOLD WILL NOT REFUND THE GOLD COST UPON BEING DISBANDED. The same can be said if crafted, all resource spent will be lost.

A warning message is displayed in game, please read it before clicking on the second disband button.

What does it mean?

This means your unit is not assigned to a building anymore (i.e. the building has been destroyed).

How to reactivate it?

You will need to rebuild the type of building to which this unit is assigned

Why do I not get to choose another unit when I build another building?

Detached units will automatically be assigned to the next corresponding military building

What building corresponds to what unit?

Barracks – Axeman / Macemen / Spearmen / Swordsmen

Archery Range – Composite Bow Archers / Crossbowmen / Javelin Throwers / Longbow Archers

Stable – Knights Cavalry / Light Cavalry / Medium Cavalry

Knights manor – GreatAxe Knights / GreatSword Knights / Longsword Knights

Castle (Will never be detached as long as you have at least 1 Castle) – Hunters / Levy
