Total War: Medieval 2 (Gamespy Edition) - I get a d3dx9_30.dll missing error

You receive the following error:

d3dx9_30.dll missing error

This issue can be fixed in one of two ways.

1. Either uninstall / reinstall and when you are asked if you wish to install Direct X 9 click Yes. Although Windows Vista uses DirectX 10 installing DirectX 9 should not cause any issues and will install the relevant missing .dll files.

2. If you do not wish to reinstall and / or install DirectX 9, download the missing .dll file from a site such as (please be aware we are not responsible for the content of this website and the link given is for reference only) and place a copy in the Medieval 2 installation folder.

Right click on the Medieval 2 icon and from the menu choose Open file location. When the Window is open, copy the .dll file into the folder. After copying the file to Medieval 2 installation folder use Windows Explorer to browse to C:\windows\system32 and place of copy of the .dll file here. After copies have been placed in both locations, retry the game.
